Midwives’ descriptions of avoidable causes of negative perinatal outcomes

Background: The Perinatal Problem Identification Programme (PPIP) is used to rule out the avoidable and nonavoidable causes of negative maternal perinatal outcomes through file audits. serves as a tool for midwives obstetricians pinpoint missed opportunities that could prevent outcomes. Aim: study aimed describe explore in Bojanala District lens midwife. Setting: This was conducted two selected facilities North West Province South Africa. Methods: derived from larger focused on midwives’ experiences obstetric triage District. A qualitative, exploratory descriptive research design with purposive sample nine midwives. Participants had over 5 years clinical midwifery experience were employed Semi-structured interviews utilised data analysed using Colaizzi’s method analysis. Results: Three major themes eight subthemes emerged. Midwives noted space constraints, medicine medical supply constraints availability equipment. Access identified would enable prompt appropriate management.
